Long Live The Explorer! Long Live Clem Alice! RIP George xxx

DSCF8694georgeSometimes things happen that put life into perspective and we are reminded just how fragile we all are. Clem Alice aka George was a young and very talented young man, whom I am privileged to have met. He should have had his whole life in front of him but tragically he passed away on Wednesday 10th April from natural causes.

DSCF3353 His work was always eyecatching and very unique.DSCF3632 Initially it took some time for me to put a name to this artist whose style was so original. I still don’t know where the name came from.

DSCF5631 The now demolished former Pinegrove Sports Club was where he really came into his own and his confidence could be seen to grow in his pieces.DSCF5624 DSCF5579 DSCF8576 This was quite an early piece that I think is still visible in the town centre.

DSCF0354 DSCF0353 DSCF0381 I loved finding his work as did many other graffiti followers.DSCF3862 This piece seemed different again, constantly evolving.DSCF2224Unfortunately, Clem Alice fell out with his own work last year and deleted all his photos on his Flickr account. I thought he would be back with even more amazing art, but sadly it was not to be. Hopefully through his popularity with photographers, most, if not all of his art will have been recorded and saved for all to see.

DSCF7747Curiously I only found this piece last week, seems quite poignant now.

Friends of Clem Alice aka George will organise a fitting tribute to him and I’m sure that he and his work will not be forgotten.

I’m not a religious person, but would like to think there is more after we leave this place and that wherever George is now they appreciate what a bloody good artist and all round nice guy they’ve got.

Long Live Clem Alice!
