Art In The Garden

DSCF5382Just before popping off on my holidays I called in at this event at the Nursery Tavern, organised by My Life Project https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Life-Project/275414552515098 . I had expected a small scale event with just a few local artists, how wrong I was! Kisk and Trik 9 were working together on a wall.

DSCF5375Faunagraphic was busy on a beautiful piece featuring British wildlife.

DSCF5395Meth had been and gone by the time I got there.

DSCF5378Caught the lovely Mr Coloquix at work.

DSCF5398 StitchJaer and Gzos had completed this awesome wall.

DSCF6690Such completed a great piece featuring roadrunner.

DSCF669410 and Espre had done their bit.

DSCF6701Ryak, Lone, Kode and Cantastic Art each made a colourful contribution, stunning wall.

DSCF6702No party would be complete without Eugene Booms.

DSCF6716Cantastic art also sneaked in a cheeky 3 wise monkeys piece.

DSCF5379The only work I didn’t get a finished shot of, the My Life Project van, undergoing a makeover from CoLor Art.

DSCF6697 StitchThe collaboration by Kisk and Trik9, super, smashing, great!

DSCF5386I’ve seen this fellow before at graff events, I think he’s working under cover, bloody good disguise though!

A lot more artists were painting than I expected, many others had called in for support and a catch up, it was great to see so many friendly faces.  🙂

Such a fantastic event, lots of artists and lots of spectators, the landlord was an absolute star as well, I do hope they do it again.

Old Places, New Bits

DSCF3517Graffiti and urbex go pretty much hand in hand, although sadly due to its soaring popularity too much information is ending up in the public domain and as a result not many new locations appear these days and if they do the window of opportunity is usually very small before a building is sealed up again. That said, the old favourites still become accessible every now and then and I was lucky enough recently to revisit two places that have a special place in my heart. Clearly I wasn’t the only one, Booms had been here too, as had quite a few others.

DSCF3496Dyson, a piece with a view.

DSCF3493A lovely blue horned monster thing from Rate One.

DSCF3490Teml, I think, somebody will let me know if I’m wrong.

DSCF3484Tekonta Secta in pink, a girly Tek?

DSCF3467Smiley Selasie, not a regular contributor, or perhaps I’m looking in the wrong places.

DSCF3463Color x Booms an excellent combination.

DSCF3534Shrooms by Nymph.

DSCF3527One of Coloquixs’ growing number of beautiful cat ladies, and this one is in extra large!

DSCF3509Is it me or are these cats starting to take over the world?

DSCF3455On my way back I spotted this piece by Rayna, a nice little find. Looking forward to what I may find next…

New Urban Era,Tamworth, Heroes and Villains 2013

DSCF3935 Stitch (5000x1120)Don’t know where to start, Tamworth is an awesome annual event, organised by Vic of New Urban Era ,and it was once again amazing. And it’s fair to say that the Sheffield Massive was, well massive….The lush wall above by Jaer, Espre, Ryak and Booms was just part of it.

DSCF3806 DSCF4001There was also CoLor and Foundry representing.

DSCF3985 StitchPawski, Mace and adopted yorkshireman Shoe worked on another stunner.

DSCF3885And not forgetting the talented Duse, pushing his boundaries a bit with this brilliant  Joker piece.

DSCF3734 DSCF3909Skema was having a bad day that was good for everyone else as he fell out with each piece he did, 3 in all and painted over 2 of them, but they all looked great to me.

DSCF3879 DSCF3876 DSCF3853Silen T Bill, whom I believe I was talking to in the Wimpy, did this clever YMCA piece and the Hulk piece is by the charming, as always, Jay Sharples. D7606s’ post boxes made an appearance too and it was a pleasure to meet the man himself.

DSCF3688 DSCF3959Hull Graffiti, like the Dynamo of the graff world, you can see his cans and bits of card, but even if you stand and watch him work and you’ve no idea how he does it!

DSCF3963 StitchMet some lovely chaps from Bristol, Shab, Cage One and Pen, who painted alongside the wonderful Steve Edwards.

DSCF3988Cracking piece from Camz featuring Dastardly and Muttley.

DSCF3990Brave, blooming marvellous.

DSCF3922Glimmertwin produced this Clockwork Orange piece, jaw dropping.

DSCF3928DSCF3934Emptea and Saker produced a fantastic piece of work, that is certainly different to anything I’ve seen them do before and Saker definitely wins my vote for the scariest mask of the day!

DSCF4003Nice to catch up with good people, Crisp and Tim (Brink Arts), love the wall too.

DSCF3999It’s exhausting this painting lark, featuring Sky High, Eureka and others.

DSCF3981Step Tone 39, getting beyond superlatives, I’ll go with Wow!

DSCF3991Ster, fabulous, that is all.

DSCF3977Anybody who knows me knows I’m not generally stuck for words, but when it came to Gnasher, I was. So chuffed to see him in action, so annoyed with myself that I hadn’t got the bottle to talk to him…

DSCF3863I don’t know how that happened, really.

DSCF3937So yes it was a brilliant day saw a lot of lovely people I already knew, met a lot of lovely people I won’t forget and wussed out on talking to Gnasher….. Oh and did I mention that the wonderful Espre painted something especially for me, good job I’m not big headed… much!

Rollin’ Under The Melody

DSCF3138 StitchWhat I love about my passion for graffiti is that moment when you see a wall you hadn’t expected to see, the buzz is awesome, and this was a jawdropper! Eug x Tekonta Secta x Phes x CoLor Art, wonderful!

DSCF3394Well! You don’t see that everyday!

DSCF3132I think this is Bobs’ handiwork, I really like it, but I doubt it’s still there, there were adhesive marks at the side of this, so something had already been removed.

DSCF3028The Grim Reaper by Mars? A guess on both counts. I like how he’s guarding the doorway.

DSCF3178http://youtu.be/L9WfyUBZ7I4 Have to say that Kid Acnes’Art Fags are not generally my favourites but I love this tune!

DSCF3435Painted as a tribute to a friend who has joined the RAF, Pawski and Mace have smashed it again. This is truly amazing close up and personal, so real that the gun follows you……………it honestly does! Another total jawdropper.

DSCF3105Bubba 2000 has decided to call it a day as far as the graff/art scene goes at the moment. I’m sure I read somewhere that he thinks it’s time to grow up. I’m sure he’ll get over it though, I stopped being a grown up a long time ago.

DSCF3103Last but not least, Pleb Alert! Because we all need to be alert to Plebs…don’t we?

The Wild West of Sheffield

DSCF2589The Wild West, apparently. I have no idea what it’s about, it’s pretty big though.

DSCF2929Emit, Erase and Mr Danks, claiming the biggest wall in the skatepark, I wonder how long this one lasts, there’s a very rapid turnover up here at the moment.

DSCF3003Laura, by or for, I’m not really sure.

DSCF2934Evil Minion by CoLor Art, he’s a Minion and he’s purple, which makes him perfect.

DSCF2766 DSCF2768The rabbit is by Petro, the board which was propped at the side of it, maybe not.

DSCF2803This was one of a series of awesome pieces by Mila K that were painted whilst I was incapacitated with a broken leg. Nearly 10 months on, I finally made it up the huge ramp that they were above, much to the horror and amusement of a group of young boys, who insisted on helping me down so I didn’t hurt myself, bless’em!

DSCF2884 DSCF2887 DSCF2889 DSCF2902 DSCF2873Local artists including Booms, Jaer, Kode and CoLor helped decorate a set location for local film maker Theo Cane and I was lucky enough to get a sneeky peek.

DSCF3108Sour on it with his pussy cat, I really like this character.

DSCF2771You never just see one rabbit do you, this cheekychap is by new artist Greenz.

DSCF3123This was an unexpected treat, a Kid Acne piece done to coincide with Tramlines perhaps, whatever, I love these characters.

There’s more much more, I’m seriously behind in sorting my photos, hopefully I’ll catchup soon……better than being bored I suppose 😉

Summer Fun and Madness!

DSCF1524Kylehughesodgers and Kid Acne piece completed on Thursday, photographed on Friday, dogged by Saturday. It does sadden me that some people feel the need to destroy others work.

DSCF1973Trik9 likes Sonic the hedgehog, a lot! Lucky us! Another glorious piece in the city centre.

DSCF1717Skint, feeling the pinch…Skinter!

DSCF2161Xhastexo, does a really nice monkey stencil, love this cheeky chap.

DSCF2176Gzos and Jaer go large with a production loosely based on zombies. West Street Wasters, I’m guessing, is a parody of  the drug and drink addicts of the city centre.

DSCF2187Boms and CoLor have gone large too, Eug even…

DSCF2088Sour painted a board for the Knife and Folk Summer Weekender Event at the Riverside, as did several other local artists.

DSCF2007As part of the same event, Faunagraphic and CoLor collaborated on a fantastic wall that I still need to get a completed shot of.

DSCF2155An artist new to me, Leeks, like this character much.

DSCF1991Some people you just have to admire for getting up and out there, Mr Danks and Erase, on it !…

DSCF1952…And others you have to admire for just being awesome. Pawski and Mace with Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver, wonderful beyond words.

DSCF2197The end of an era? The Matilda Street boards have sadly come down, one little corner of the city looks a little less colourful now……it’s a good job there’s still plenty of others 😉

Graffiti – Camping Edition

DSCF0829I have been to some weird and wonderful places in search of graffiti, but this place I think tops the chart. That somewhere like this could be so close to a big city geographically, but a whole world away in every other aspect, really blew my mind. The people we met were really nice and helpful but the experience was surreal. Booms and CoLor Art were given permission to paint two caravans, the amazing results are above and below.DSCF1123

DSCF0487Speaking of surreal, Fauna Graphic and Foundry produced their first, hopefully of many, collaborations called Chariots of the Gods. Sadly it was damaged within days of completion, an increasingly common occurrence  across the city at the moment.

DSCF0799The Jackalope by Nymph, new arrival to the scene.  A Jackalope  is a cross between a pygmy deer and a killer rabbit, a creature with an ability to mimic the human voice. The females produce milk which is useful for medicinal purposes, but they only mate during electrical storms, which explains there rarity, that, and there passion for whisky, which makes them easy to hunt, apparently….

DSCF0903There has been a new batch of Kid Acnes’ Stabby women spotted around town.

DSCF1143I don’t know who, how or why, but it’s small and sweet and I like it.

DSCF0897Big L, moving into a whole new ballpark, so to speak. Love the character.

DSCF1133Nice to see a Mr Dyson piece, I don’t seem to have seen much of his lately, perhaps I’m looking in the wrong places.

Still loving the work that’s going on in the city, shame about those feeling the need to damage it.
