Along came a Spider, so happy that Phlegm paid us a visit, love this so much, it was worth the brambles and everything. D7606, ready to use wheatpaste, my favourite shade. C3, these ladies are developing nicely, gorgeous. Eug, got a strange taste in underwear, like the tattoos though. 🙂 Rialto and Earth, getting busy, which is a good thing I think.Brayk Graff ‘The coldest flame in Sheffield’, know the feeling.J Davies Arts, eye popping letters.007, old piece ( the writer sadly died in 2000) uncovered by clearance of vegetation on railtracks, very well preserved.Mila K, looking good, as always, fun to find, as always… This Alex Ekins Raven wheatpaste is definitely one of my favourites. Stunning Lord of the Rings themed wall from Mace, Surge, Gzos and Shadyone Amp.Evo, Pawski and Shoe, very handsome portrait of a fellow in the middle there 😉Coloquix, seeing double and with the reflection almost double double!! Skint and Sico, way too cool for school. Class of 2015 by CoLor, I’m particularly fond of the little details on this. Hungry Horace seemed to disappear altogether, but perhaps not, this doesn’t look new but it’s certainly not as old as his other stuff, the plot thickens….
I had thought I’d be out and about over the christmas period, but due to the seaonal weather and over indulgence I haven’t got very far at all, bring on the spring, or at least some dry weather!I do have a strange fondness for this place, it was one of my very first explores, it had more walls and roofs and even windows then! But I do think it’s on borrowed time now as it is slowly but surely falling down, I’ll be surprised if it lasts another year.Surge and Britney, did it again, reclaiming a favourite spot.Simple but effective, and slightly disturbing.Mr Hastes’ monkey seems to have escaped 🙂Corpse, surely one of the most photographed pieces in Sheffield over the last few days, love it!Stickers! Featuring C3, D7606, Greenz, SSSOVA, VoxRomana and others.Mila K,Acid Junkies, took this after it had snowed and the sun was shining, it was literally blinding. Not sure who did the piece on the left, but Dyson in the middle and Teml(?)I like this, a commissioned piece #colourbritain sponsored by Dulux.Coloquix has an exhibition on at the Forum, go see it if you can. I went to the opening night, cue another hangover! 😉The skatepark is going through a popular phase at the moment, practically changing every week. Riseone and Rast, I may have seen Riseone painting this, but it probably wasn’t him… This is an art space, a space for art, the shutter apparently however, is not….
So me and my little dog (who had chronic wind by the way!) got on a train to Birmingham to see what all this City of Colours business was all about. I have to say that not having been to Brum on a graff mission before I was instantly pleasantly surprised and actually veered off the COC path for a couple hours looking at all there was to see, and there was a lot, I’ll cover that in a separate post. This lovely lady by N4T4 was the first official COC piece that I saw. This wonderful board wall was not an ‘official’ part of COC but hey it’s not a bad thing that everyone wanted to be involved.Tizer and Gent 48 among others joined in the fun.The amazing work of Jimmy C, I’ve never seen it up close before, stunning.Dscreet, love all his work but my favourites are the owls.Spotted at the Custard Factory.Everywhere I turned there was a wall being painted.NHS crew.Corpse, the largest one I’ve seen.Loved this ladys’ work apologies for not knowing her name.Philth, on form as always. The Stencil Shed, not his real name, and I didn’t see a stencil either.Ennui, gutted I didn’t get to see this finished.More awesomeness.I’m sure he didn’t do all of this with a pen.Skema, paintaholic 🙂Enzime, really like this.Bill Giles and PM(?)Andy Council, sponsored by Mr Whippy 😉Steve Edwards beautiful study of Kingfishers playing leapfrog.Lost Souls epic production.SPZero76, not just a figment of my Instagram!Made You Look, yes it did.Lisk Bot, very fond of these handsome robots.Rmer1, blooming marvellous.Loved this…….and this…Si2, I’m sure he’d not arrived by the time I went home, but he must have been there somewhere.Delightfully different.CoLor, Eug, Corpse and Tekonta Secta fantastic collaboration.Privileged to see Hoakser in action.Title and Jim Vision, I’m running out of superlatives!Mila Ks’ luscious ladies guarding the entrance to the Custard Factory….
….There was more, much more, so much I didn’t even get to see all of it. For a first attempt I would say this was a roaring success, and City of Colours 2 is already booked in for next September. Congratulations to the organisers for a spectacular event. I’m sure I’ll be back, not sure about the dog though, had to sit in the bike racks on the train home…
Rainbow Rambo!Sour taking it easy, yes I know it’s an old one,but I don’t get out much. 😉Wonderful piece by Rocket 01 and Faunagraphic, spent ages looking for this, in all the wrong places.I spied a Foundry piece on his all weather wall. Sico, Skint and Suek freedom wall for Fista. Some keeping it colourful.Found a cheeky little Corpse sticker.Surge, Pawski and Mace beautiful memorial piece.Body Snachaz, Mars alligator. Really like this quirky little fellow. Not a brilliant photo but I didn’t have my tripod, love this piece by CoLor. Handsome chap isn’t he?As if!
Oh and if you were wondering, I recently found a FB page for Street Art Heidelberg that had an H2i production, painted in Sheffield, as it’s banner, I never knew I was in Germany, did you?
While the many were watching mad men on bicycles I had a little wander. Got to this just after Meth had finished it. Nice bit of Bob.Byne and Haste are really on it at the moment.Interesting collaboration between Casino and Desmond, definitely different.D7606 has added another little yellow piece to this extremely very busy doorway. Kosh-9s definitive canine. Was good to catch up with Burn and Kode of TCM as they finished this awesome wall, sadly Rackone had left before I got there.Love these cheeky chappies! This simply stunning piece featuring Gail, the dominatrix, from Sin City is another creation by Surge. Eug going large, I was amazed that the scary baby was still there by the time I got to it, but it is pretty firmly attached.A topical cracker by Rocket01 appeared a few days after the Tour de France had left. Not sure of the names for this one.Rateones’ scary cyclops, lurking in the darkness. This is going to be awesome, can’t wait to see it finished.
Paid a brief visit to Peace in the Park, met up with a few friends who were having a very good time! CoLor Meth and Mila K found time to have a paint while they were there and I think the posing peoples were in a band,Spotted a few of these about, don’t know who did them.Eug with one of his awesome characters.Stewy paid us a visit to drop this stencil featuring Jarvis Cocker, one of several different characters he’s done in various locations on the route of the Tour de France.Lovely tribute piece to the late Patrick Moore by Rocket01.Kosh and…., I’m not guessing…I don’t know who did this either, but I do think it’s quite sweet.Venom, by Mace, superbly gruesome.Jiro?Angry Kitty (not it’s real name) by Mila K.Rambo and Nofx doing what they do best.Pretty lady by Black.C3 pasteup being reclaimed by nature.Don’t know who but much like.Love this too.I love my graff and I’m constantly amazed at the quality of work produced in this city, but I don’t often go wow! anymore, I did when I first saw this. I do have a bit of a soft spot for anything Batman related, but this is truly special.
It’s always great to meet people as passionate about my hobby/ obsession as I am, so imagine how happy I was that one like-minded individual, was not only making the trip over from Australia to the UK (and Europe), but made it as far as Sheffield too! And it was my privilege to show her the sights over the two days she was here. Lady P as some of you may know is a graffaholic and I think it’s fair to say we have a lot in common. We tried to fit in as much as we could, but didn’t make it to all the spots I’d hoped. It was strange to realise how much I no longer notice, just because it’s there. It was good to see each place through another persons’ eyes.
Despite having never been finished the Phlegm piece above is still amazing.
This Mega Production by Kode, Lone, Gzos and Mars was one I’d not seen up close, looks pretty special.Bumped into some of the new crop of artists in the city, was good to put names to pieces, the one above is by Desmond.Lady P caught in action photographing Peachz at work. The latest piece of loveliness from Eugene Booms.Lady P was able to see CoLor Art and Narke creating this fabulous piece, I think she took a few snaps too.I don’t know anything about Anubis, but I really like what he does, this is my favourite so far.Spied a beautiful Coloquix lady.Lady P was quite taken with this wall by H2i.Solo, I hope I got it right this time! Really like it anyway.I’ve not heard of Purpz before, not sure whether he’s local or not, cool piece though.Sico, seems to be all over the place at the moment. 🙂 Rather fond of these little critters by ABC.A horned lady by Casino, love the style of these.Really like this combination of paste up and paint by Dala.Making use of the architectural features, Meth. Another making use of the architecture, can somebody tell me who it is please? I now know it’s Brisk 🙂Robo x Brisk, enjoying watching their styles and skills develop.Dyson consistently good.Paid a visit to the studio where Foundry works with his brother, and found this sexy lady on the wall.Lady P was keen to see as much as she could in her time with us, this piece by Rocket was the next to the last she saw on her trip.
It says a lot for Sheffield that someone like Lady P from so faraway, would be aware of what is going on here and want to come and see it for herself. I think we gave her a pretty grand tour, giving her a proper Yorkshire welcome and introducing her to a traditional English chippy and the questionable delights of dandelion and burdock!
It was a real pleasure to have her here I do hope she enjoyed it as much as I did…….Oh and by the way, she never said g’day once!
