You know that summer’s here when it’s Tamworth time, one event the weather can’t spoil, well not too much, and this year it was a scorcher, and so was the weather! Sheffield was once again well represented, Surge was sporting trackies from the new C&B range.Gzos too has an interesting line in clothing ‘Smiley Bum’ .Mace was a Marvel ( 😉 ) Jaer was too busy painting to be making a fashion statement! Seem to have got myself a little behind of late, I blame my crappy internet, (3.5 hours to upload 60 photos!), my garden, it’s a jungle out there, really it is, and also the fact that so much work is so widely documented that there really doesn’t seem to be any need to rush…. so I won’t. 😉 Suek always nice to see work by this talented guy. Meth, the cheeky leg was covered over quickly, glad I got to see it. Coloquix, lady in the lake, well brook actually, had a longer than expected walk to find her, worth the effort though. Foundry, Caught this handsome chap busy on this beautiful tribute piece for sweet Ruby who was only here for eleven days but her memory will live on with her family always. Took me several attempts to get a shot of this due to cars parked in front of it. The piece was completed shortly before Rubys funeral. Another lovely tribute for Ruby by Mace, Surge and Mars. Aero x Dose, they don’t get as much coverage as some artists, but are constantly keeping on it. I’m guessing not local, but my what a wall!? x Ask x Dyel, great set of blokes who don’t get out as often as I’d like 😉 Riseone x I don’t know, but I really like it. Kisk, another fellow who needs to get out more, although I do know he’s often busy with community projects. Slew x Orin, not seen these guys in Sheffield before, they can normally be found lurking further south.Vintage Teas, goodness knows how old it is!Booms, I like to think this is based on me apart from the tattoos, the bald head and the beard 🙂 Broker, long time no see, perhaps I’m just going to the wrong places…
I had thought I’d be out and about over the christmas period, but due to the seaonal weather and over indulgence I haven’t got very far at all, bring on the spring, or at least some dry weather!I do have a strange fondness for this place, it was one of my very first explores, it had more walls and roofs and even windows then! But I do think it’s on borrowed time now as it is slowly but surely falling down, I’ll be surprised if it lasts another year.Surge and Britney, did it again, reclaiming a favourite spot.Simple but effective, and slightly disturbing.Mr Hastes’ monkey seems to have escaped 🙂Corpse, surely one of the most photographed pieces in Sheffield over the last few days, love it!Stickers! Featuring C3, D7606, Greenz, SSSOVA, VoxRomana and others.Mila K,Acid Junkies, took this after it had snowed and the sun was shining, it was literally blinding. Not sure who did the piece on the left, but Dyson in the middle and Teml(?)I like this, a commissioned piece #colourbritain sponsored by Dulux.Coloquix has an exhibition on at the Forum, go see it if you can. I went to the opening night, cue another hangover! 😉The skatepark is going through a popular phase at the moment, practically changing every week. Riseone and Rast, I may have seen Riseone painting this, but it probably wasn’t him… This is an art space, a space for art, the shutter apparently however, is not….
Due to crappy internet, Christmas and bad weather, not got around to posting this even though I started it at the beginning of December. Luckily it has been a bit quiet recently so hopefully I won’t have missed too much out.Love this quirky little chap by Mikk Murray. Spotted this local legend putting the finishing touches on this. And Britney did it again. Meth producing lots of wonderful work at the moment. Eyepopping colours from Narke.Rateone, gone fishing 😉
Bine and Haste collab, boys gone large!J Davies, more lovely creations. My favourite of a series of Bubba creations on Ecclesall Road.Corpse, creating an ever expanding array of characters.Shoe and Pawski having a cheeky paint. Have since been informed that it is Form and Scar, thanks for the info 🙂Sico, in one of my least favourite spots, great piece though.
Assuming the snow melts before the end of the year I hope to be out and about, still got a few bits to catch up on.
Hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas, thanks for your support over the past year!
After 2 weekends lurking in Birmingham and a broadband connection that keeps feeling nostalgic and replicating the golden age of dial up internet, I find I’ve got a bit of a backlog. So this is a larger than normal Sheffield post while I try to get back on track.
Stickers, some people hate them, I love them, especially when there’s little collections of them, this set includes D7606, C3, Rubix, Zabou and Greenz.Brayk, a man of many words. Double Meth, twice the fun!Byne, been a bit quiet lately, working on a new project perhaps.Like this, don’t know who it is though.Part of the wonderful Rocket01 and Mila K collaboration piece. Rainbow Rambo!Sour taking it easy, yes I know it’s an old one,but I don’t get out much. 😉Wonderful piece by Rocket 01 and Faunagraphic, spent ages looking for this, in all the wrong places.I spied a Foundry piece on his all weather wall. Sico, Skint and Suek freedom wall for Fista. Some keeping it colourful.Found a cheeky little Corpse sticker.Surge, Pawski and Mace beautiful memorial piece.Body Snachaz, Mars alligator. Really like this quirky little fellow. Not a brilliant photo but I didn’t have my tripod, love this piece by CoLor. Handsome chap isn’t he?As if!
Oh and if you were wondering, I recently found a FB page for Street Art Heidelberg that had an H2i production, painted in Sheffield, as it’s banner, I never knew I was in Germany, did you?
All this damp weather is good for fungi apparently. Espre, lovely guy who doesn’t paint often enough. Meth, Trik9 and Rank in a blue mood.Mars goes big!Your Mum’s Your Dad (don’t ask, I’ve no idea!)getting up!Zero and Kode with an awesome tribute to the sad passing of King Robbo.Sour and friends.Brayk, what can I say…, definitely different, but didn’t last long.Sico, popping up all over the place.Surge, Britney, Pawski, Mr Jones and Mace, A stunning wall celebrating the new Planet of the Apes film. Since been told his name is Ments.Gnasher, forgot his earplugs and fell out with this character, great to see him and Mystique though.Parlee and Demane, was great to meet these guys, this was probably my favourite production. We had a fascinating chat about the early days of the Specials too! Kem, looking a little lonely as Mef was on holiday and Wingy working on a brilliant Rorschach piece.Skema, half the man he was last year ( 😉 ) but still putting up fab pieces and he managed to stick with one this year, unlike the three he did last year!.Zook, another brummie I think, liking his style. The master Title, stunning work as ever.Glimmertwin, just love it.Shab, lovely to see the man himself, I don’t think he’ll forget my little dog in a hurry! I’m very fond of the raven.Love this too.Very nice to see Mr. Steve Edwards, just keeps getting better.Don’t know the artist but I’ve been told his name is Toile.Mono, love this guy, that is all.Fidget, I think.Mig29, I hope, this wall was looking out of this world, gutted I didn’t get to see it finished.Leigh Irvine (Raze), the first or one of the first big jams he’s been to, can’t go wrong with the Mask..CoLor and Corpse worked together on this brain melting piece.Vomit, this just jumps off the wall, brilliant. There was dancing, and loud music, my little dog did not appreciate the music…or skateboards.Polar, not sure where he’s from, but was good to meet him.Freebee2, wonderfully bonkers 🙂The Rusty Alexander, most of the work covering this mobile gallery is by My Dog Sighs, simply stunning.H2i crew and Surge and friends, made a weekend of it, their blockbuster wall wasn’t completed until the next day.
A fantastic day once again which even the weather couldn’t spoil, although it had a good go. I managed to not get wet, although my feet did look like they had been to Glastonbury. It was good to see so many people I knew and meet many more, I think my little dog helped a little bit. Well done to Vic and New Urban Era for pulling it off again, I’m sure it’s worth all the stress!
My only disappointment with the day was that I had to leave before so much was finished, me and my little dog had to run to the train station, yes run, leg it up 3 flights of stairs to the platform, leaving us both in need of oxygen, to find that our train was delayed. It turned out that the lively weather had blown up a signal box in Derby and created absolute chaos. The delay turned out to be over an hour, I wonder how many of the walls had been finished by then…… On the plus side my little dog was no trouble on the train…
While the many were watching mad men on bicycles I had a little wander. Got to this just after Meth had finished it. Nice bit of Bob.Byne and Haste are really on it at the moment.Interesting collaboration between Casino and Desmond, definitely different.D7606 has added another little yellow piece to this extremely very busy doorway. Kosh-9s definitive canine. Was good to catch up with Burn and Kode of TCM as they finished this awesome wall, sadly Rackone had left before I got there.Love these cheeky chappies! This simply stunning piece featuring Gail, the dominatrix, from Sin City is another creation by Surge. Eug going large, I was amazed that the scary baby was still there by the time I got to it, but it is pretty firmly attached.A topical cracker by Rocket01 appeared a few days after the Tour de France had left. Not sure of the names for this one.Rateones’ scary cyclops, lurking in the darkness. This is going to be awesome, can’t wait to see it finished.
I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to put this post together, but it has. The jam at the ball courts, Sheffields biggest graff event on the calendar, was as always well attended with many of the great and the good from here and further afield turning up to paint. Byne and Haste were on it, in the same spot as last year, I believe.Iron Man being wonderfully recreated by Mace.Ryak, dressed appropriately for the weather,as were many others, because it was blooming hot!, working on their signature pieces.Si2, Hull Graffiti working his magic again, I’m so glad he likes coming to this city.Kosh painting a pooch.Trik9, having a little dancing interlude.
Only paid a flying visit to the jam on the day, due to having a very hot dog with me! Here’s some finished masterpieces.Si2 Hull Graffiti.Meth, CoLor, Kode and Lone.Byne and Haste.MTH, Irek Onger and Suer.Surge.Sone.Haven’t got a decent shot of this complete due to the goals being put back up, don’t know the artists name either.Cantastic Art.This one was spoilt by the goal too.I don’t know the names of these guys, sorry.Trik9, Prone and Xanone.Pawski and Shoe.Public Offender.Open and Link.Ryak and ?.Core.And finally…
Sadly, as much as this is an annual event, so too is the dogging of some of the pieces as soon as the jam is over, lucky there was some star who came and retouched them all…… warms the cockles of my heart! 🙂
