Saw the man himself in the middle of painting this, he said I’d like it, he was wrong, I think it’s fantastic 😀  DSCF2778Bint and Tekonta Secta walked into a bar……… I’m sure there’s a joke in there somewhere, but anyway, great to see them in one of our more salubrious hostelries.

I’d been thinking things were a bit quiet in Sheffield, but if you have a good look around, it’s as busy as ever, thankfully, don’t want my garden too tidy do I?

I’m Still Here, Honest!

DSCF5559 StitchWell, I’ve been trying to work on this blog for almost a fortnight, but due to my internet going all nostalgic for the days of dial up, it’s been a fairly hopeless task! Anyway in other news, saw this lovely octopus by XBN7.DSCF5543Rateones’ monster has had an interesting makeover DSCF3493. Birmingham City of Colours

So me and my little dog (who had chronic wind by the way!) got on a train to Birmingham to see what all this City of Colours business was all about. I have to say that not having been to Brum on a graff mission before I was instantly pleasantly surprised and actually veered off the COC path for a couple hours looking at all there was to see, and there was a lot, I’ll cover that in a separate post.  DSCF3770This lovely lady by N4T4 was the first official COC piece that I saw.DSCF4001 StitchThis wonderful board wall was not an ‘official’ part of COC but hey it’s not a bad thing that everyone wanted to be involved.DSCF4022 StitchTizer and Gent 48 among others joined in the fun.DSCF4046The amazing work of Jimmy C, I’ve never seen it up close before, stunning.DSCF4047Dscreet, love all his work but my favourites are the owls.DSCF4058Spotted at the Custard Factory.DSCF4070Everywhere I turned there was a wall being painted.DSCF4101 StitchNHS crew.DSCF4111Corpse, the largest one I’ve seen.DSCF4125Loved this ladys’ work apologies for not knowing her name.DSCF4148Philth, on form as always.DSCF4154The Stencil Shed, not his real name, and I didn’t see a stencil either.DSCF4158Ennui, gutted I didn’t get to see this finished.DSCF4167 StitchMore awesomeness.DSCF4172I’m sure he didn’t do all of this with a pen.DSCF4357Skema, paintaholic  🙂DSCF4383Enzime, really like this.DSCF4390Bill Giles and PM(?)DSCF4410Andy Council, sponsored by Mr Whippy 😉DSCF4445Steve Edwards beautiful study of Kingfishers playing leapfrog.DSCF4453Lost Souls epic production.DSCF4456 StitchSPZero76, not just a figment of my Instagram!DSCF4461 StitchMade You Look, yes it did.DSCF4463Lisk Bot, very fond of these handsome robots.DSCF4480Rmer1, blooming marvellous.DSCF4482Loved this…DSCF4496….and this…DSCF4507Si2, I’m sure he’d not arrived by the time I went home, but he must have been there somewhere.DSCF4529Delightfully different.DSCF4192CoLor, Eug, Corpse and Tekonta Secta fantastic collaboration.DSCF4177Privileged to see Hoakser in action.DSCF4412 StitchTitle and Jim Vision, I’m running out of superlatives!DSCF4532Mila Ks’ luscious ladies guarding the entrance to the Custard Factory….

….There was more, much more, so much I didn’t even get to see all of it. For a first attempt I would say this was a roaring success, and City of Colours 2 is already booked in for next September. Congratulations to the organisers for a spectacular event. I’m sure I’ll be back, not sure about the dog though, had to sit in the bike racks on the train home…

Derby Graff Jam : Court In The Act

DSCF1267Had a little trip over to Derby for the first ‘Court in the Act’ event. The above piece, by Tekonta Secta, greeted us on our arrival.DSCF1269Sheffield was well represented, Casino was in attendance.DSCF1282As were Xhastexo and Byne.DSCF1284Plenty of local talent was on display too. DSCF1289Deze, some names were shamelessly stolen from the Derby Graff page on Facebook 😉 https://www.facebook.com/graffitiderby?fref=tsDSCF1293Lisk Bot with one of his wonderful creations.DSCF1294I think this was an old piece, loving the style.DSCF1295An eye-catching piece by Repz.DSCF1324Rise, this was one of favourite pieces on the day.DSCF1336CoLor Art was there too to take on the container challenge, I think he won.DSCF1351Last saw this writers work at Russells Youth Club, great to see him in action again.DSCF1353Rews another local lad I think.DSCF1357Nice piece by Peach, good to see her trying different things.DSCF1359Rate One knocked out this cracking piece, not bad at all for his first paint at a jam.DSCF1349Byne and Xhastexo were asked to paint a car by nearby resident. Local children were very concerned that they had permission to do this, and even though the artists assured them they did, they still felt the need to check with the car owner as well!DSCF1365Gutted that we had to leave before the paper came off.DSCF1300Apologies to Lisk Bot for being one of the many who asked where the robot was……he was hiding all the time! 😉

Really enjoyed this little jam, hope there will be another one soon, and well done to Jay for organising it!

Away Day to the Infirmary of Derelict Rooms

DSCF9441I do like a trip out and this place was too big an opportunity to miss. I won’t bore you with the history (can’t be bothered to research it!) just know, it’s huge, and it’s incredible how much stuff has been left here. I had to go to the roof of one of the buildings to see this piece by Tekonta Secta. I don’t do heights and was in need of medical attention by the time I’d done.DSCF9434Nice piece by Zero.DSCF9442Corpse local to this area has definitely made this place his playground, quite fitting really. DSCF9351Security is not what it was, that owl’s not fooling anybody.DSCF9455 A bit late for that I think.DSCF9383Be afraid, be very afraid. The ghosts of many an urbexer can frequently be seen, wandering the corridors aimlessly, still looking for a way out.DSCF9425Another rooftop, not as high as the first with a glorious Tekonta Secta x Color Art collab.DSCF9360The chapel, with a commemorative piece to the pigeons who gave their all to give areas of this place that distinctive odour of decay.DSCF9367The kitchens and their amazing disappearing appliances. ( On a second trip, most of these had gone.)

DSCF9595Should you ever wake up to this sight, your day is not going well.

DSCF0685Grim reminder of what we come down to in the end. DSCF9578Tools of the trade, I found these shocking on many levels, not least because they were still there and appeared to be in full working order, although on my second visit, they had been effectively disabled.DSCF9600

DSCF9504This creation by CoLor Art was done on our first visit….below is the same room on our next.DSCF0712

DSCF0724‘Nuff said.

DSCF0720This Corpse made me jump!DSCF0728Window Corpse.DSCF0740Colourful Corpse, really like this.DSCF0734Peach and CoLor – Opy-totor and Llaphalotl, bonkers. 🙂DSCF0745Tekonta Secta ‘Elipan Species’DSCF0742Yeti, a regular sight around these parts apparently.DSCF0678CoLor Art, making use of the pool with this gorgeous seal.DSCF0688CoLor, Corpse and Peach, an interesting if slightly mental combination.DSCF0722A Horse….in a dark plant room, quite high up on a wall, random.DSCF9594Token arty shot.DSCF0744One of the many many corridors in this colossal place.DSCF0696As we left I spotted this little fellow, don’t know the artist but he’s a really switched on guy! (I’ll get my coat…)DSCF9619Heading for the train station this handsome fellow was lurking in the bushes, Angry Face, awesome end to the day.

Thanks to those who took me around and made sure I got home in one piece, much appreciated 😀
