Bristol part Deux

DSCF7113Apologies in advance for not knowing who most of the artists are in this post. While Bristol is synonymous with Streetart, there is also lots of top quality graffiti, to say the scene is thriving is a bit of an understatement.DSCF7182This tunnel gets a very regular makeover, visited on Thursday, all painted over on Saturday.DSCF7675I do like stickers paste ups and slaps, saw a fair amount of these Loqui the Roman…DSCF7719…and lots of Angryface stickers too, so much so I’m beginning to wonder if he’s relocated.DSCF8190There seems to be little time or interest in having beef here, nothing stays around long enough.DSCF8193One, of many from the Hall of Fame.DSCF8200I’m sure there’s a story behind this…DSCF7939Sled One fantastic wall at the Deaner, gone within a week of me taking this photo I think. DSCF8014Love this little guy!DSCF8115Oky and ?DSCF8119Trust me, I wept, still not fluent in reading letters 😦  P.S. Bristol, you were awesome, I do hope I get to visit you again!

Sensory Overload!

So, I got the chance to go to Bristol, well, I grabbed it with both hands! There is so much to see it is mind boggling. I took over a 1000 photos, I’m still sorting through them. Apologies in advance for not knowing the names of all the artists.DSCF7226Mr Ricks, part of great wall in the St Pauls area.DSCF7271 StitchDora, awesome piece, not so awesome photo due to the parked cars, my excuse and I’m sticking to it.DSCF7327Flava 36, loved this character, saw him in a few spots. DSCF7351Burning Candy, splendid, why can’t every building be painted like this 🙂DSCF7385Banksy, when in Rome and all that…DSCF7388Cosmo Sarson, fantastic, I defy anyone to not smile when they see this!DSCF7421Stood ages waiting for the sun to go in, to get a decent shot of this, it was worth it though 🙂DSCF74493Dom, thought I recognised this, and then realised I’d seen this artist in action at City of Colours.DSCF7487The Lakota nightclub, featuring the work of Epok, Soker, Cheo, 3Dom, Sepr, Jody and others. DSCF7536Robbie the Robot, a real blast from the past! I found something indicating this might be an artist called Paris, but can’t find any verification, and googling Paris Bristol really doesn’t help…DSCF7593Pixel Pancho, first one I’ve seen in the flesh. DSCF7612Aryz, first one I’ve seen in the flesh.DSCF7637Conor Harrington, first one I’ve seen in the flesh, even if it was at a distance through mesh and a fence.DSCF7651Mariusz Waras, Nick Walker and El Mac, this whole street was just staggering, nearly broke my neck more than once, because I was too busy looking up.DSCF7672Cheo, hiphop Wallace and Gromit, ace!DSCF7733Funky zebra by Trix.     DSCF7765Dale Grimshaw, beautiful.DSCF7808Herakut, my brains melting.DSCF7841Andrew Burns Colwill, wonderful piece featuring the famous Bristol crocodile 😉 DSCF7850Stephen Quick, portrait of Benedict Cumberbatch.DSCF7864 StitchSoker and Cheo, Mysterio vs Spiderman. DSCF7876Dank, thought this piece was amazing, again had to wait for the sun to go in before I could get a decent shot.DSCF7883Whoam Irony, another first for me.

I know a fair few of these pieces have been widely seen online, but I’m putting them on here because I went and stood in front of them and it was great to be able to do that and to appreciate them in a whole new light. The two days were exhausting but totally unforgettable, thank you to the two people who made it all possible, I am forever in your debt. I will be doing another post on Bristol after my next Sheffield blog, showing some of the less well known pieces.

Art In The Garden 2

DSCF5265For the second year running the wonderful people at the Nursery Tavern on Ecclesall Road held the Art in the Garden jam organised by My Life Project. Art in the Garden will be on again next year, try and make it if you can, it’s a really nice chilled day out. But in the meantime check out MLP they are involved in some fantastic community projects and workshops.
