Whatever The Weather

DSCF8225Along came a Spider, so happy that Phlegm paid us a visit, love this so much, it was worth the brambles and everything. DSCF7093D7606, ready to use wheatpaste, my favourite shade. DSCF7087C3, these ladies are developing nicely, gorgeous.  DSCF7077Eug, got a strange taste in underwear, like the tattoos though. 🙂  DSCF7068Rialto and Earth, getting busy, which is a good thing I think.DSCF7061Brayk Graff  ‘The coldest flame in Sheffield’, know the feeling.DSCF7007J Davies Arts, eye popping letters.DSCF6948007, old piece ( the writer sadly died in 2000) uncovered by clearance of vegetation on railtracks, very well preserved.DSCF6941Mila K, looking good, as always, fun to find, as always… DSCF6929This Alex Ekins Raven wheatpaste is definitely one of my favourites. DSCF7056 StitchStunning Lord of the Rings themed wall from Mace, Surge, Gzos and Shadyone Amp.DSCF6895 StitchEvo, Pawski and Shoe, very handsome portrait of a fellow in the middle there 😉DSCF6889Coloquix, seeing double and with the reflection almost double double!!DSCF6854 Skint and Sico, way too cool for school. DSCF6825Class of 2015 by CoLor, I’m particularly fond of the little details on this. DSCF6779 Hungry Horace seemed to disappear altogether, but perhaps not, this doesn’t look new but it’s certainly not as old as his other stuff, the plot thickens….

Tis The Season….

Due to crappy internet, Christmas and bad weather, not got around to posting this even though I started it at the beginning of December. Luckily it has been a bit quiet recently so hopefully I won’t have missed too much out.DSCF6012Love this quirky little chap by Mikk Murray. DSCF6005Spotted this local legend putting the finishing touches on this.DSCF6002And Britney did it again. DSCF5999Meth producing lots of wonderful work at the moment. DSCF5997Eyepopping colours from Narke.DSCF5957Rateone, gone fishing 😉

DSCF6083 StitchBine and Haste collab, boys gone large!DSCF6074J Davies, more lovely creations.DSCF6062My favourite of a series of Bubba creations on Ecclesall Road.DSCF6029Corpse, creating an ever expanding array of characters.DSCF6346Shoe and Pawski having a cheeky paint. (Do you see what I did there? 😉 )DSCF6343Coloquix to the left of me, Brayk to the right, here I am.DSCF6328Surge, Mars And Mace, having a Star Wars moment, awesome!DSCF6169No idea who, but really like it. Have since been informed that it is Form and Scar, thanks for the info 🙂DSCF6167Sico, in one of my least favourite spots, great piece though.

Assuming the snow melts before the end of the year I hope to be out and about, still got a few bits to catch up on.

Hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas, thanks for your support over the past year!

Sharrow Jam 2014

DSCF1828I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to put this post together, but it has. The jam at the ball courts, Sheffields biggest graff event on the calendar, was as always well attended with many of the great and the good from here and further afield turning up to paint.  Byne and Haste were on it, in the same spot as last year, I believe.DSCF1825Iron Man being wonderfully recreated by Mace.DSCF1833Ryak, dressed appropriately for the weather,as were many others, because it was blooming hot!, working on their signature pieces.DSCF1845Si2, Hull Graffiti working his magic again, I’m so glad he likes coming to this city.DSCF1843Kosh painting a pooch.DSCF1854Trik9, having a little dancing interlude.

Only paid a flying visit to the jam on the day, due to having a very hot dog with me! Here’s some finished masterpieces.DSCF1966Si2 Hull Graffiti.DSCF1971 StitchMeth, CoLor, Kode and Lone.DSCF2002Byne and Haste.DSCF2003 StitchMTH, Irek Onger and Suer.DSCF1826Surge.DSCF1834Sone.DSCF1860Haven’t got a decent shot of this complete due to the goals being put back up, don’t know the artists name either.DSCF1994Cantastic Art.DSCF1852This one was spoilt by the goal too.DSCF1855I don’t know the names of these guys, sorry.DSCF2009 StitchTrik9, Prone and Xanone.DSCF1941Pawski and Shoe.DSCF1951Public Offender.DSCF2036Open and Link.DSCF1987 StitchRyak and ?.DSCF2042Core.DSCF1948And finally…

Sadly, as much as this is an annual event, so too is the dogging of some of the pieces as soon as the jam is over, lucky there was some star who came and retouched them all…… warms the cockles of my heart! 🙂

G’day! (Well 2 of them actually)

DSCF0275It’s always great to meet people as passionate about my hobby/ obsession as I am, so imagine how happy I was that one like-minded individual, was not only making the trip over from Australia to the UK (and Europe), but made it as far as Sheffield too! And it was my privilege to show her the sights over the two days she was here. Lady P as some of you may know is a graffaholic and I think it’s fair to say we have a lot in common. We tried to fit in as much as we could, but didn’t make it to all the spots I’d hoped. It was strange to realise how much I no longer notice, just because it’s there. It was good to see each place through another persons’ eyes.

Despite having never been finished the Phlegm piece above is still amazing.

DSCF0298 StitchThis Mega Production by Kode, Lone, Gzos and Mars was one I’d not seen up close, looks pretty special.DSCF0352Bumped into some of the new crop of artists in the city, was good to put names to pieces, the one above is by Desmond.DSCF0361Lady P caught in action photographing Peachz at work.DSCF0376The latest piece of loveliness from Eugene Booms.DSCF0444Lady P was able to see CoLor Art and Narke creating this fabulous piece, I think she took a few snaps too.DSCF0423I don’t know anything about Anubis, but I really like what he does, this is my favourite so far.DSCF0291Spied a beautiful Coloquix lady.DSCF0461Lady P was quite taken with this wall by H2i.DSCF0466Solo, I hope I got it right this time! Really like it anyway.DSCF0496I’ve not heard of Purpz before, not sure whether he’s local or not, cool piece though.DSCF0499Sico, seems to be all over the place at the moment. 🙂 DSCF0517Rather fond of these little critters by ABC.DSCF0523A horned lady by Casino, love the style of these.DSCF0526Really like this combination of paste up and paint by Dala.DSCF0540Making use of the architectural features, Meth.DSCF0543 Another making use of the architecture, can somebody tell me who it is please? I now know it’s Brisk 🙂DSCF0559Robo x Brisk, enjoying watching their styles and skills develop.DSCF0582Dyson consistently good.DSCF0572Paid a visit to the studio where Foundry works with his brother, and found this sexy lady on the wall.DSCF0570Lady P was keen to see as much as she could in her time with us, this piece by Rocket was the next to the last she saw on her trip.

It says a lot for Sheffield that someone like Lady P from so faraway, would be aware of what is going on here and want to come and see it for herself. I think we gave her a pretty grand tour, giving her a proper Yorkshire welcome and introducing her to a traditional English chippy and the questionable delights of dandelion and burdock!

It was a real pleasure to have her here I do hope she enjoyed it as much as I did…….Oh and by the way, she never said g’day once!

Waders Not Included

DSCF8162So it’s throwing it down, freezing cold, howling gale, time to go hunting for a piece next to a swollen river, obviously. I guess there are worse things to have as your last view on the world than a cat-carrying water siren by Coloquix.DSCF8174 StitchGzos, Pawski and Shoe, another awesome wall to brighten the city centre.DSCF8185Stabby women, the new batch from Kid Acne, particularly liking the unicorn.DSCF8152Not an especially new Xhastexo and Bine collaboration, but a really good one.DSCF8112Espre, first one of the year, one of many I hope.DSCF8111Almost impossible to comprehend that this is a first piece by an artist, but the Inksurgeon, as his name suggests, normally performs wonders on a much smaller scale. It’s not bad for a debut (!), wonder what he’ll do next…DSCF8091I never was a fan of the Muppets, the only characters I ever really liked were Waldorf and Statler, Rateone must have read my mind!DSCF8107Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad, another cracker from Pawski.DSCF8108Skull by Mace, crikey what a scorcher.DSCF8085 StitchSkint and Sour collab, apologies for the poor pic, but they will paint in such awkward places!.DSCF8021Gradually disappearing as is the nature of all things graffiti, the first cat/manatee by Phlegm. Although as some pieces go this is probably antique.DSCF8150Some of Sheffields up and coming, mixed with a few that have been around a while, don’t think that slow fellow will go far though…

Can somebody do something to stop all this rain please, I think I’m starting with trenchfoot. Thank you! 🙂

My Milkshake Brings All The Boys To The Yard…

DSCF7315 StitchThis is what I’ve seen on very recent expeditions. Sour, pushing boundaries with this piece that looks like it’s raised up from the wall.DSCF7286Alex Ekins, little fox, lovely.DSCF7318 StitchKid Acne x Petro, for reasons I don’t understand, a bit of a ‘marmite’ wall.DSCF7381 StitchH2i (Pawski, Mace, Mars) and TIO (Gzos, Jaer) came together for this fantastic tribute marking the tragic extinction in the wild of the Black Rhino.DSCF7454Trex, not a regular contributor to city centre walls, more usually seen on the outskirts. I have now been informed that this is a different Trex and the original is not impressed.DSCF7457Cantastic Art has taken to night time manoeuvres recently, must be sponsored by a carrot farmer!DSCF7464Boaster MTH did this sneaky little character on a recent visit to Sheffield, love it!DSCF7267This wonderful owl, something a little different from Mars, awesome.DSCF7493Managed to catch two of the H2i fellows working on this stunner of a wall featuring Chali 2Na, (I confess, I had never heard of him, but the likeness is amazing!) DSCF7500The finished wall by Shoe and Pawski, completed just as it went dark, lucky to get a half decent shot thanks to fading light and dying camera batteries.DSCF7302And finally… another Bunny!

Put Another Coin In The Meter!

DSCF5345Apologies for the lack of service apparently I’ve used up my free allocation for my blog and have to now pay an annual fee. As I am on holiday at the moment, I’m coming up a little short, but on my return will be found most evenings on the Town Hall steps!  😉 In the meantime please enjoy yet another masterpiece from H2i, Pawski Mace and Shoe, who produce the most wonderful work which gets targeted far too often by numpties, whom I hope get knee capped very soon.

Wakefield Part Trois

DSCF4241Third and final trip, probably, to Wakefield and the last ‘Revive’ Jam of the year, and what a turnout! Kem Mef paid a visit and did a cracking piece that I managed to not get a single decent shot of.

DSCF4236CoLor Art  dropped a cool Chopper Harris character.

DSCF4374Cantastic, did something a little different to anything I’ve seen him do before, really like the elephants.

DSCF4487Spel and Beyond flew over, dropped an awesome piece and even had time to pimp a car!

DSCF4494Was really impressed that one of the organisers had been able to persuade Kelzo to come over too, I hadn’t seen him in action before, great to see.

DSCF4511There was much more full wall, as in floor to ceiling coverage than at previous Jams, they look amazing, well done to the guys working off ladders, it can’t have been easy.

DSCF4573Alfreshco were on hand to supply paint as needed and there guy Kak did this stunning wall too.

DSCF4550UKS came prepared, no balancing on ladders for them.

DSCF4710 StitchaSheffield was once again well represented, Ryak Lone and Kode on the case.

DSCF4720 StitchAdopted yorkshireman Shoe collaborated with Mace, Pawski and Foundry to produce this jaw dropping wall with characters Clay, Aisha and Cougar from the graphic novel and movie, The Losers.

DSCF4726 StitchMars and Evo were there as well, bang on as always.

DSCF4735 StitchThe completed wall from UKS, apologies for the pic, not the best joined image, but their production is fantastic.

DSCF4730 StitchAnother full wall, love it!

DSCF4739Kink Dhfam did the bottom eye and mind boggling piece, and another artist from the northeast did the piece above.

DSCF4741 StitchPryme, Inca, Spymad and Hull Graffiti, absolutely bonkers mental and fabulous!

DSCF4345By far the coolest customer that I met on the day, Ruby. She ran the burger van in between playing ball and refereeing in local disputes, an absolute star.

Apologies to any artist painting that aren’t featured, once again just too much good stuff, not that I’m complaining…

Sadly though I have to report a number of the large pieces had been dogged within days, jealousy makes children of some people it would seem…. but lots of photos were taken on the day by lots of photographers, so the images will remain in all their glory on line at least.

New Urban Era,Tamworth, Heroes and Villains 2013

DSCF3935 Stitch (5000x1120)Don’t know where to start, Tamworth is an awesome annual event, organised by Vic of New Urban Era ,and it was once again amazing. And it’s fair to say that the Sheffield Massive was, well massive….The lush wall above by Jaer, Espre, Ryak and Booms was just part of it.

DSCF3806 DSCF4001There was also CoLor and Foundry representing.

DSCF3985 StitchPawski, Mace and adopted yorkshireman Shoe worked on another stunner.

DSCF3885And not forgetting the talented Duse, pushing his boundaries a bit with this brilliant  Joker piece.

DSCF3734 DSCF3909Skema was having a bad day that was good for everyone else as he fell out with each piece he did, 3 in all and painted over 2 of them, but they all looked great to me.

DSCF3879 DSCF3876 DSCF3853Silen T Bill, whom I believe I was talking to in the Wimpy, did this clever YMCA piece and the Hulk piece is by the charming, as always, Jay Sharples. D7606s’ post boxes made an appearance too and it was a pleasure to meet the man himself.

DSCF3688 DSCF3959Hull Graffiti, like the Dynamo of the graff world, you can see his cans and bits of card, but even if you stand and watch him work and you’ve no idea how he does it!

DSCF3963 StitchMet some lovely chaps from Bristol, Shab, Cage One and Pen, who painted alongside the wonderful Steve Edwards.

DSCF3988Cracking piece from Camz featuring Dastardly and Muttley.

DSCF3990Brave, blooming marvellous.

DSCF3922Glimmertwin produced this Clockwork Orange piece, jaw dropping.

DSCF3928DSCF3934Emptea and Saker produced a fantastic piece of work, that is certainly different to anything I’ve seen them do before and Saker definitely wins my vote for the scariest mask of the day!

DSCF4003Nice to catch up with good people, Crisp and Tim (Brink Arts), love the wall too.

DSCF3999It’s exhausting this painting lark, featuring Sky High, Eureka and others.

DSCF3981Step Tone 39, getting beyond superlatives, I’ll go with Wow!

DSCF3991Ster, fabulous, that is all.

DSCF3977Anybody who knows me knows I’m not generally stuck for words, but when it came to Gnasher, I was. So chuffed to see him in action, so annoyed with myself that I hadn’t got the bottle to talk to him…

DSCF3863I don’t know how that happened, really.

DSCF3937So yes it was a brilliant day saw a lot of lovely people I already knew, met a lot of lovely people I won’t forget and wussed out on talking to Gnasher….. Oh and did I mention that the wonderful Espre painted something especially for me, good job I’m not big headed… much!

Sharrow Graff Jam 2013

DSCF2241Skema and Apps travelled up early from Walsall to take part in this years Jam, producing a stunning Star Wars themed collaboration. Perhaps it was part of a cunning plan to make sure they got finished sooner and didn’t fry like the rest of us, because it was certainly a scorcher.

DSCF2318Meth looking very dapper as he worked on a piece in his trademark style.

DSCF2267Mis Red, not been out and about as much as I’d like to see, produced a lush cats and mouse piece, hope there will be more soon.

DSCF2321Trik9, excellent as always.

DSCF2316Xhastexo and Bine, a winning combination, fuelled by Budweiser!

DSCF2334DSCF2332DSCF2330Bob, Public Offender and I’m not sure who, painted some of the smaller panels on the outside of the ball court.

DSCF2314I like this and wish my reading of letters was better, so I could tell you who it was.

DSCF2296Mr Ryak, always nice to see.

DSCF2340MTH Crew, great to see them in Sheffield, a really talented bunch.

DSCF2840Kosy, cannot tell you how happy I was that he came and did a piece at the jam and that I met him and he was great!

DSCF2834Si2, Hull Graffiti, I can watch this guy paint all day he’s like a magician, even if you’re watching his every move, you still don’t know how he does it.

DSCF2337Five Five in action.

DSCF2837Such, organiser of the graff jam, love the colours in this.

DSCF2842Lone and Bern key artists at the jam…DSCF2843…as is Kode it wouldn’t be the same without them.

DSCF2831Last but by no means least Pawski, Shoe and Mace, a force to be reckoned with. A fantastic piece, again, can’t wait to see what they pull out of the bag for Tamworth.

So yes all in all a good day out, met lots of people, got burnt to a crisp, saw some wonderful graffiti/art, got a Booms piece of my own and had some fabulous indian food, does it get any better than that? Probably not…

P.S. Apologies to any artist not featured here, there was just too much!
