Managed to get here just as this piece was finished. This is a close up of the Pawski and Foundry collaboration.The wall in all its glory featuring Ryak, Mace, Pawski, Foundry, Gzos and Jaer and some fellow with a camera 😉Love these, no idea who they are by.Xhastexo and Bine, brilliant piece that wasn’t there for long.The style looks familiar, but I’m not certain. Spotted whilst half way up a very dodgy ladder.  Eug Booms in 2 minds with himself.Syco and Robo, good to see they’re keeping busy. Colourful little number from Narke.Skint and Kosh, Let me take a Selfie, brought out my inner child this one 🙂

I’m a little bit behind with stuff at the moment, I’ve been a little pre occupied with my new pooch! Normal service will resume soon.

The End Is Nigh!

I don’t like to get involved in the politics of the scene, but I do feel the vibe in Sheffield is really bad at the moment, it saddens me and it’s taking away much of the pleasure I got from my passion. There is far too much hate on individuals when it’s roots are not necessarily graff related. If you don’t like a style, fair enough but to publicly diss and damage individuals work is pointless. Not everybody likes everything, and why should they? Some ‘acclaimed’ photographers started by only photographing the work of one artist, some have stayed like that. For myself, I try to encompass as much of the scene as I can, and yes I get it that it must be frustrating for certain writers and artists that some of the newcomers to the graff photographic community will ignore many quality pieces to get to a piece by a specific person. But I think all this infighting is missing the point. It’s a good thing that there is a wider interest in graffiti/street art, more interest = more public support and more legal spots, good thing, yes? I think so. It has a down side though. I know there are many who believe that real graff should not be on legal walls, I get that too, the problem, as I see it now is that the areas are being blurred. I’m not getting into the bombing aspect, I mean the less legal sites, in derelict buildings etc. are being treated, by some, as in the public domain, they’re not. They were never meant to be mainstream,discovering and accessing these sites was never supposed to be openly discussed on social networks, it kind of defeats the object. I love the work on legal walls, the more the better, I think it looks amazing and it’s great to see more appearing in the city. But I loved the thrill of finding something unexpected or hidden too, I’ve spent hours and in one case months searching online and walking miles to find that special something, now that’s gone, chances are you’ll have seen a photo of a piece by loads of people within hours of it being done, you’ll have to join the queue to access the site and if you’re lucky, you’ll get there just before somebody’s dogged it! In my opinion this is not a good thing, it’s killed the urbex scene and it’s doing the same to graff. I was reading an interview the other week with an american graff photographer,he said much the same thing, it would appear it’s a problem everywhere. What’s the answer? Buggered if I know, all I hope is that some new fad takes over leaving those of us who like to spend our days sniffing paint fumes dodging syringes and standing in pigeon poo to get on with it. I think it will happen, I just hope the scene hasn’t imploded on itself before it does. We have some fantastic writers and artists in Sheffield, the city is becoming renowned for its graffiti and street art nationwide, even worldwide, long may it continue…. please.

Catching Up Again!

Sorry for the gap between posts, been caught up in the festive spirit (blatant lie!) Anyway let’s get back on track. I do like stickers and slaps, nice to see a Tom Newell one.CoLor and Narke and an attack of the munchies I think.Cantastic Art, becoming an increasingly regular visitor to Sheffield, I like this much.This gorgeous lion is part of an amazing looking mural on the Hallam Uni Students Union building , painted by  graphic design graduate Sachin Limbachia, can’t wait to see it without the scaffolding around it.Gzos and Jaer, laying claim and brightening more of the bored boards in our city.Slugger, much more than that I don’t know, quirky characters though 🙂 Heard this character was being retired, a pity if it’s true, he’s one of my favourites, by Riseone. And finally, the last in the series….Bunny! this one is by Alex Ekins

My Milkshake Brings All The Boys To The Yard…

This is what I’ve seen on very recent expeditions. Sour, pushing boundaries with this piece that looks like it’s raised up from the wall.Alex Ekins, little fox, lovely.Kid Acne x Petro, for reasons I don’t understand, a bit of a ‘marmite’ wall.H2i (Pawski, Mace, Mars) and TIO (Gzos, Jaer) came together for this fantastic tribute marking the tragic extinction in the wild of the Black Rhino.Trex, not a regular contributor to city centre walls, more usually seen on the outskirts. I have now been informed that this is a different Trex and the original is not impressed.Cantastic Art has taken to night time manoeuvres recently, must be sponsored by a carrot farmer!Boaster MTH did this sneaky little character on a recent visit to Sheffield, love it!This wonderful owl, something a little different from Mars, awesome.Managed to catch two of the H2i fellows working on this stunner of a wall featuring Chali 2Na, (I confess, I had never heard of him, but the likeness is amazing!) The finished wall by Shoe and Pawski, completed just as it went dark, lucky to get a half decent shot thanks to fading light and dying camera batteries.And finally… another Bunny!

Autumnal Activities

Even though the weather has certainly turned autumnal, there’s still a lot going on in the city, I revisited one of my favourite urbex spots to get this Mila K x Skint piece. Stood at the tramstop and spotted this eyecatching little number!I’m sure Skint said he’d never paint the ballcourts again, must be an imposter! 😉This is a bit of a cobbled together photo, the pieces by Prone and CoLor were completed a few days before Espre finished his bit. unfortunately somebody felt the need to ruin CoLors piece before I could get a complete finished shot, so this is a composite set of three images taken several days apart. This seems to be happening a lot lately, with several artists being targeted, not big and not clever. As you can see it was a great wall, if only for a short time. I don’t know who did this, Aspirin, may or may not be a clue, whoever did it, I like it, a lot.I’m not sure who did this either, but it’s ace. I now have it on good authority that this piece is by Meth, which I thought it might be, but wasn’t sure.Xhastexo x Bine x Greenz, a lovely combination. H2i member Pawski, flying solo on this one, awesome as per usual, and he just about finished it before it went dark!H2i, were out in force for this one, Pawski, Mace, Mars, Evo and Seed spent the Remembrance weekend on this truly wonderful production, a very fitting tribute to the fallen.And now for something completely different! Bunny !

Catching up

Some of the pieces shown have already disappeared under the Halloween walls, but they’re very worthy of a viewing here. This is Halloween

I love Halloween, and I’ve been well happy this year that so many artists have got into the spirit, so to speak. Love this piece by Coloquix.Part of a huge wall in the city centre, this section features Trik9, Jaer and New Yorker Eli One.Trik9(again) and Kisks’ bit.Such, with the most amazing Evil Mickey I have ever seen, Kode and Lone.Gzos’ contribution. The whole wall is fantastic,I broke it down into sections so you can see more of the detail.CoLor Art went over to the darkside. Mila Ks piece, sensational as always. This beast of a wall features the talents of Booms, CoLor Art, Danks, Trik9 and Prone.Lone did this spooktacular(did I just say that!) take on Jason.

All in all made me a very happy undead vampire bunny!

 

Art In The Garden

Just before popping off on my holidays I called in at this event at the Nursery Tavern, organised by My Life Project https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Life-Project/275414552515098 . I had expected a small scale event with just a few local artists, how wrong I was! Kisk and Trik 9 were working together on a wall.

Faunagraphic was busy on a beautiful piece featuring British wildlife.

Meth had been and gone by the time I got there.

Caught the lovely Mr Coloquix at work.

Jaer and Gzos had completed this awesome wall.

Such completed a great piece featuring roadrunner.

10 and Espre had done their bit.

Ryak, Lone, Kode and Cantastic Art each made a colourful contribution, stunning wall.

No party would be complete without Eugene Booms.

Cantastic art also sneaked in a cheeky 3 wise monkeys piece.

The only work I didn’t get a finished shot of, the My Life Project van, undergoing a makeover from CoLor Art.

The collaboration by Kisk and Trik9, super, smashing, great!

I’ve seen this fellow before at graff events, I think he’s working under cover, bloody good disguise though!

A lot more artists were painting than I expected, many others had called in for support and a catch up, it was great to see so many friendly faces.  🙂

Such a fantastic event, lots of artists and lots of spectators, the landlord was an absolute star as well, I do hope they do it again.

Guess Who’s Back? Back Again!

Quick round up of stuff seen out and about, got a bit of a backlog, due to being offline so to speak. First up a Barbie sticker, new to the scene but putting the work in and getting out there. Girl Power!

EMA gave the Access space a new lick of paint.

Suek and Sour created a number of new characters, this one is by Suek, I think this little chap is my most favourite.CoLor Art, stopped taking the medication I see 😉

Espre, what can I say, love it!Cantastic Art, trying something a little different with a reproduction of an image that’s been floating around the internet. I don’t know who it was by, not that it matters really in my opinion, it’s a quality piece and a fitting nod to the original.

Trevor by Trevor, with teeth!Skint, going green, an eco craftsman?Xhastexo and Bine have formed a formidable partnership, producing bigger and better pieces one after the other at the moment, excellent!

So yes, I’m back on it, more posts coming very soon 🙂

Put Another Coin In The Meter!

Apologies for the lack of service apparently I’ve used up my free allocation for my blog and have to now pay an annual fee. As I am on holiday at the moment, I’m coming up a little short, but on my return will be found most evenings on the Town Hall steps!  😉 In the meantime please enjoy yet another masterpiece from H2i, Pawski Mace and Shoe, who produce the most wonderful work which gets targeted far too often by numpties, whom I hope get knee capped very soon.
