Visited a few places I haven’t been in a while recently, some had changed more than others, but all change is good(hopefully), noticing a few new spots appearing too, fingers crossed they keep appearing as fast as the old ones are being demolished!

Goodnight Mr Heathcote

Once upon a time there was a woman who made an amazing discovery ( to her)… 0f an artist called Phlegm… and the rest, as they say, is history…

A very important part of that history evolves around one building A. R.Heathcote…                                                                    DSCF1628my first urbex….. .        DSCF6347 my first hidden Phlegm and Rocket01…      DSCF6323my first Fauna…      DSCF6333It could even be Phlegms first painting spot, got to be a very early one anyway.

DSCF0171Tekonta Secta, yes really.                                                     DSCF3340Following a partial demolition of the site, the place became a little more airy, but at least it was easier to photograph the ‘Beauty is a Beast’ in all it’s glory 🙂                                                                   DSCF1103The walls were still quite bare, I would visit regularly just to see if anything new had appeared.

DSCF6197Kid Acne was quite a regular visitor too.

DSCF3346But Phlegm was the busiest I think.

DSCF6641More artists began to visit the site, Perms went large.

DSCF7455The Phlegm and Rocket wall was painted over, initially with a Kid Acne x EMA x Drot collab  (there were tears, I can tell you!) and then this appeared by… mmm ..I wonder…

DSCF6640Dscreet painted one of his signature owls, I was quite giddy about this.

DSCF2554Absolutely loved this, it was ages before I knew who did it, Jay Sharples.

DSCF2552Mr Wolf, used to be all over the place.

It was a nightmare going through photos for this, my biggest ever post, I’ll be bound to have put someone out and I apologise for that. I have 6 years of photos from this place, literally thousands. I really had a connection with it, rats, crack heads and all, and I am gutted at it’s loss.

DSCF3452  DSCF3558

I haven’t included pics from the boards or the Niche wall, they’re worthy of a post on their own though, if anyone’s interested.

Below is a link that tells you about the industrial history of Heathcotes, includes pre-graffiti pics http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/a-r-heathcote-cutlers-sheffield.t21572

Sleeep well Mr Heathcote, I for one will miss you.

Always be yourself, unless you can be Batman. Then always be Batman.

DSCF9825 StitchmBit of a delay between posts, mostly because of this wonderful piece by Bob x Skint x Suek, which was an absolute pig to photograph, very good though, and really rather clever.  🙂  DSCF8261Dmak, reclaiming what is seeming to be one of his regular spots.DSCF8286Managed to catch the man himself, Rocket01, just putting the finishing touches to this beauty, stunning.DSCF9598Brayk, we can fix you…we can make you fit in. I read this wrong initially as ‘we can fix Ada’, but we can probably fix her as well..DSCF9604Cheeky little chap by Rateone, love this…..and I didn’t fall off the makeshift ladder I had to climb to get it… result!DSCF9620Fox2b, a visitor to Sheffield perhaps, I don’t know, loving this style though. DSCF9636Something a little different from Trik9, the Oak Elephant.  DSCF9652Marcus Method x Eugene Booms. Ventured into a spot where I wouldn’t normally go on my own to capture this awesomeness, needn’t have worried, place was full of photographers!DSCF9654Ghost Patrol paid a little visit to Sheffield, nice to see. DSCF9660D7606 x Martian Code, an international collaboration which I really like. DSCF9670Little rays of sunshine. DSCF9677Becoming a real fan of Ogosh, not such a bad apple at all 🙂DSCF9860 StitchKode x Bern, Suicide Bear fantastic, if slightly disturbing..DSCF9625Looks like Coloquix lady is turning to the bottle, not surprising really…

I had wondered if there would be any implications following the demolition of the so-called ‘crack den’ as the regulars there would need a new place to go. On entering this site to visit the tipsy lady above, I bumped into a group of four men, who were just leaving, all looking rather spaced, one clutching a carrier bag and another one of them dressed ….. as Batman…..

While It’s Raining…

DSCF6632 StitchDusto x Foundry x See, loving this 🙂 DSCF6630TBC 142, they may buff it off but they will return.DSCF6615 StitchTrik9 x Deap, looking good.DSCF6603Spade, visited for Tramlines, left his mark. DSCF6471Bob – The Urine Infections, ’nuff said… DSCF6850Kaze, not seen him about for a while. DSCF6869Sour, not seen him for a while either 😦 DSCF7148 StitchMace x Gzos, staggering collab, brilliant work as always. DSCF5897Rocket01, stepping up a gear at the moment, bring it on!DSCF6464Lovely Gums, not met him but I’ve got a soft spot for his cheeky characters. DSCF6827I dunno….. made me laugh though. DSCF6704Misc…..mmmm…. very similar to…? DSCF6729Eugene Booms, feeling blue, made my day though, somehow managed to not see this on Insta, so was a wonderful surprise! DSCF6734Bine x Haste, the boys are back in town, didn’t think they’d ever left 😉 DSCF6761ABC x Peachzz psycadelic stairs. DSCF6772Wizo, seeing this around more and more. DSCF6848STOG has a clever eye for colour, lush!

Keep thinking there’s not a lot happening on the Sheffield Scene at the moment, but it is, there’s just a little more legwork to catch it all, oh well, I guess I could do with the exercise!

Still Going!

Seem to have got myself a little behind of late, I blame my crappy internet, (3.5 hours to upload 60 photos!), my garden, it’s a jungle out there, really it is, and also the fact that so much work is so widely documented that there really doesn’t seem to be any need to rush…. so I won’t. 😉 DSCF0844Suek always nice to see work by this talented guy. DSCF0882Meth, the cheeky leg was covered over quickly, glad I got to see it. DSCF1068Coloquix, lady in the lake, well brook actually, had a longer than expected walk to find her, worth the effort though. DSCF1085Foundry, Caught this handsome chap busy on this beautiful tribute piece for sweet Ruby who was only here for eleven days but her memory will live on with her family always. DSCF2152Took me several attempts to get a shot of this due to cars parked in front of it. The piece was completed shortly before Rubys funeral. DSCF1262 StitchAnother lovely tribute for Ruby by Mace, Surge and Mars. DSCF1278 StitchAero x Dose, they don’t get as much coverage as some artists, but are constantly keeping on it. DSCF1288 StitchI’m guessing not local, but my what a wall!DSCF1310 Stitch? x Ask x Dyel, great set of blokes who don’t get out as often as I’d like 😉 DSCF1321 StitchRiseone x I don’t know, but I really like it. DSCF1375Kisk, another fellow who needs to get out more, although I do know he’s often busy with community projects. DSCF1550Slew x Orin, not seen these guys in Sheffield before, they can normally be found lurking further south.DSCF0906Vintage Teas, goodness knows how old it is!DSCF0930Booms, I like to think this is based on me apart from the tattoos, the bald head and the beard 🙂  DSCF1001 StitchBroker, long time no see, perhaps I’m just going to the wrong places…

Spring Is On It’s Way!

DSCF8901 Stitch (20000x2675)A BOK production, featuring Kisk, Trik, apologies for the piece I chopped off, it just didn’t work with the joiner, my fault, bloody useless with a camera.DSCF8901This is the one I couldn’t fit on.DSCF8891Big BobDSCF8828 StitchCoLor, Eug X Espre, with a little D7606 too.DSCF8804Coloquix , got his ladies playing a dangerous game.DSCF8796Little Bob and a big Gums, really like these, is he local?DSCF8794https://youtu.be/ScaQts1Q41c  Kid Acne playing the lyric round again, I’d never have got this one in a million years.DSCF8786Xhastexo, good to see the monsters still get out every now and then 🙂DSCF8784Dyson. one for his boys.DSCF8753CoLor and Tekonta Secta, not new, but I’d not got up close before and it probably won’t be there much longer.DSCF8724Very fond of this little chap, no idea who made him.DSCF8712 StitchTaken me years to get to this place, it’s old and well battered, but I though it was ace. Riseone and Wolf can be seen amongst others.DSCF8703 StitchOlds, samurai master?DSCF8699Skint, pastel foxyness or foxy pastelness. DSCF8677Mila K, From My Cold Dead  Paws Pt2,at the end of the rainbow, literally.DSCF8588Brayk with a very dark character.DSCF8892Kaze, not seen this fellow in a while, glad to see he’s still on it!

DSCF1819DSCF2068 DSCF0229On a side note, sad to see that the new owners of the pub that was the Bell Jar have painted over all the artwork that was there, their loss (and ours) I suppose, but a pity none the less.

Whatever The Weather

DSCF8225Along came a Spider, so happy that Phlegm paid us a visit, love this so much, it was worth the brambles and everything. DSCF7093D7606, ready to use wheatpaste, my favourite shade. DSCF7087C3, these ladies are developing nicely, gorgeous.  DSCF7077Eug, got a strange taste in underwear, like the tattoos though. 🙂  DSCF7068Rialto and Earth, getting busy, which is a good thing I think.DSCF7061Brayk Graff  ‘The coldest flame in Sheffield’, know the feeling.DSCF7007J Davies Arts, eye popping letters.DSCF6948007, old piece ( the writer sadly died in 2000) uncovered by clearance of vegetation on railtracks, very well preserved.DSCF6941Mila K, looking good, as always, fun to find, as always… DSCF6929This Alex Ekins Raven wheatpaste is definitely one of my favourites. DSCF7056 StitchStunning Lord of the Rings themed wall from Mace, Surge, Gzos and Shadyone Amp.DSCF6895 StitchEvo, Pawski and Shoe, very handsome portrait of a fellow in the middle there 😉DSCF6889Coloquix, seeing double and with the reflection almost double double!!DSCF6854 Skint and Sico, way too cool for school. DSCF6825Class of 2015 by CoLor, I’m particularly fond of the little details on this. DSCF6779 Hungry Horace seemed to disappear altogether, but perhaps not, this doesn’t look new but it’s certainly not as old as his other stuff, the plot thickens….

Happy New Year!

I had thought I’d be out and about over the christmas period, but due to the seaonal weather and over indulgence I haven’t got very far at all, bring on the spring, or at least some dry weather!DSCF6648 StitchI do have a strange fondness for this place, it was one of my very first explores, it had more walls and roofs and even windows then! But I do think it’s on borrowed time now as it is slowly but surely falling down, I’ll be surprised if it lasts another year.DSCF6575 StitchSurge and Britney, did it again, reclaiming a favourite spot.DSCF6651Simple but effective, and slightly disturbing.DSCF6616Mr Hastes’ monkey seems to have escaped 🙂DSCF6591Corpse, surely one of the most photographed pieces in Sheffield over the last few days, love it!DSCF6584Stickers! Featuring C3, D7606, Greenz, SSSOVA, VoxRomana and others.DSCF6522Mila K,Acid Junkies, took this after it had snowed and the sun was shining, it was literally blinding.DSCF6493 StitchNot sure who did the piece on the left, but Dyson in the middle and Teml(?)DSCF6469I like this, a commissioned piece #colourbritain sponsored by Dulux.DSCF6463Coloquix has an exhibition on at the Forum, go see it if you can. Birmingham City of Colours

So me and my little dog (who had chronic wind by the way!) got on a train to Birmingham to see what all this City of Colours business was all about. I have to say that not having been to Brum on a graff mission before I was instantly pleasantly surprised and actually veered off the COC path for a couple hours looking at all there was to see, and there was a lot, I’ll cover that in a separate post.  DSCF3770This lovely lady by N4T4 was the first official COC piece that I saw.DSCF4001 StitchThis wonderful board wall was not an ‘official’ part of COC but hey it’s not a bad thing that everyone wanted to be involved.DSCF4022 StitchTizer and Gent 48 among others joined in the fun.DSCF4046The amazing work of Jimmy C, I’ve never seen it up close before, stunning.DSCF4047Dscreet, love all his work but my favourites are the owls.DSCF4058Spotted at the Custard Factory.DSCF4070Everywhere I turned there was a wall being painted.DSCF4101 StitchNHS crew.DSCF4111Corpse, the largest one I’ve seen.DSCF4125Loved this ladys’ work apologies for not knowing her name.DSCF4148Philth, on form as always.DSCF4154The Stencil Shed, not his real name, and I didn’t see a stencil either.DSCF4158Ennui, gutted I didn’t get to see this finished.DSCF4167 StitchMore awesomeness.DSCF4172I’m sure he didn’t do all of this with a pen.DSCF4357Skema, paintaholic  🙂DSCF4383Enzime, really like this.DSCF4390Bill Giles and PM(?)DSCF4410Andy Council, sponsored by Mr Whippy 😉DSCF4445Steve Edwards beautiful study of Kingfishers playing leapfrog.DSCF4453Lost Souls epic production.DSCF4456 StitchSPZero76, not just a figment of my Instagram!DSCF4461 StitchMade You Look, yes it did.DSCF4463Lisk Bot, very fond of these handsome robots.DSCF4480Rmer1, blooming marvellous.DSCF4482Loved this…DSCF4496….and this…DSCF4507Si2, I’m sure he’d not arrived by the time I went home, but he must have been there somewhere.DSCF4529Delightfully different.DSCF4192CoLor, Eug, Corpse and Tekonta Secta fantastic collaboration.DSCF4177Privileged to see Hoakser in action.DSCF4412 StitchTitle and Jim Vision, I’m running out of superlatives!DSCF4532Mila Ks’ luscious ladies guarding the entrance to the Custard Factory….

….There was more, much more, so much I didn’t even get to see all of it. For a first attempt I would say this was a roaring success, and City of Colours 2 is already booked in for next September. Congratulations to the organisers for a spectacular event. I’m sure I’ll be back, not sure about the dog though, had to sit in the bike racks on the train home…
