Visited a few places I haven’t been in a while recently, some had changed more than others,but all change is good(hopefully), noticing a few new spots appearing too, fingers crossed they keep appearing as fast as the old ones are being demolished!

Goodnight Mr Heathcote

Once upon a time there was a woman who made an amazing discovery ( to her)… 0f an artist called Phlegm… and the rest, as they say, is history…

A very important part of that history evolves around one building A. R.Heathcote…                                                                    my first urbex….. .         my first hidden Phlegm and Rocket01…      my first Fauna…      It could even be Phlegms first painting spot, got to be a very early one anyway.

Tekonta Secta, yes really.                                                     Following a partial demolition of the site, the place became a little more airy,but at least it was easier to photograph the ‘Beauty is a Beast’ in all it’s glory 🙂                                                                   The walls were still quite bare, I would visit regularly just to see if anything new had appeared.

Kid Acne was quite a regular visitor too.

But Phlegm was the busiest I think.

More artists began to visit the site, Perms went large.

The Phlegm and Rocket wall was painted over, initially with a Kid Acne x EMA x Drot collab  (there were tears, I can tell you!) and then this appeared by… mmm ..I wonder…

Dscreet painted one of his signature owls, I was quite giddy about this.

  Absolutely loved this, it was ages before I knew who did it, Jay Sharples.

It was a nightmare going through photos for this, my biggest ever post, I’ll be bound to have put someone out and I apologise for that. I have 6 years of photos from this place, literally thousands. I really had a connection with it, rats,crack heads and all, and I am gutted at it’s loss.

  

I haven’t included pics from the boards or the Niche wall, they’re worthy of a post on their own though, if anyone’s interested.

Bit of a delay between posts,mostly because of this wonderful piece by Bob x Skint x Suek, which was an absolute pig to photograph, very good though, and really rather clever.  🙂  Dmak, reclaiming what is seeming to be one of his regular spots.Managed to catch the man himself, Rocket01, just putting the finishing touches to this beauty, stunning.Brayk, we can fix you…we can make you fit in. I read this wrong initially as ‘we can fix Ada’, but we can probably fix her as well..Cheeky little chap by Rateone, love this…..and I didn’t fall off the makeshift ladder I had to climb to get it… result!Fox2b, a visitor to Sheffield perhaps, I don’t know, loving this style though. Something a little different from Trik9, the Oak Elephant.  Marcus Method x Eugene Booms. Ventured into a spot where I wouldn’t normally go on my own to capture this awesomeness, needn’t have worried, place was full of photographers!Ghost Patrol paid a little visit to Sheffield, nice to see. D7606 x Martian Code, an international collaboration which I really like. Little rays of sunshine. Becoming a real fan of Ogosh, not such a bad apple at all 🙂Kode x Bern, Suicide Bear fantastic, if slightly disturbing..Looks like Coloquix lady is turning to the bottle,not surprising really…

I had wondered if there would be any implications following the demolition of the so-called ‘crack den’ as the regulars there would need a new place to go. On entering this site to visit the tipsy lady above, I bumped into a group of four men, who were just leaving, all looking rather spaced, one clutching a carrier bag and another one of them dressed ….. as Batman…..

Dusto x Foundry x See, loving this 🙂 TBC 142, they may buff it off but they will return.Trik9 x Deap, looking good.Spade, visited for Tramlines, left his mark. Bob – The Urine Infections, ’nuff said… Kaze, not seen him about for a while. Sour, not seen him for a while either 😦 Mace x Gzos, staggering collab, brilliant work as always. Rocket01, stepping up a gear at the moment, bring it on!Lovely Gums, not met him but I’ve got a soft spot for his cheeky characters. I dunno….. made me laugh though. Misc…..mmmm…. very similar to…? Eugene Booms, feeling blue, made my day though, somehow managed to not see this on Insta, so was a wonderful surprise! Bine x Haste, the boys are back in town, didn’t think they’d ever left 😉 ABC x Peachzz psycadelic stairs. Wizo, seeing this around more and more. STOG has a clever eye for colour, lush!

Keep thinking there’s not a lot happening on the Sheffield Scene at the moment, but it is, there’s just a little more legwork to catch it all, oh well, I guess I could do with the exercise!

Still Going!

Seem to have got myself a little behind of late, I blame my crappy internet, (3.5 hours to upload 60 photos!), my garden, it’s a jungle out there, really it is, and also the fact that so much work is so widely documented that there really doesn’t seem to be any need to rush…. so I won’t. 😉 Suek always nice to see work by this talented guy. Meth, the cheeky leg was covered over quickly, glad I got to see it. Coloquix, lady in the lake, well brook actually, had a longer than expected walk to find her, worth the effort though. Foundry, Caught this handsome chap busy on this beautiful tribute piece for sweet Ruby who was only here for eleven days but her memory will live on with her family always. Took me several attempts to get a shot of this due to cars parked in front of it. The piece was completed shortly before Rubys funeral. Another lovely tribute for Ruby by Mace, Surge and Mars. Aero x Dose, they don’t get as much coverage as some artists, but are constantly keeping on it. I’m guessing not local, but my what a wall!? x Ask x Dyel, great set of blokes who don’t get out as often as I’d like 😉 Riseone x I don’t know, but I really like it. Kisk, another fellow who needs to get out more, although I do know he’s often busy with community projects. Slew x Orin, not seen these guys in Sheffield before, they can normally be found lurking further south.Vintage Teas, goodness knows how old it is!Booms, I like to think this is based on me apart from the tattoos, the bald head and the beard 🙂  Broker, long time no see, perhaps I’m just going to the wrong places…

On a side note, sad to see that the new owners of the pub that was the Bell Jar have painted over all the artwork that was there, their loss (and ours) I suppose, but a pity none the less.

Whatever The Weather

Along came a Spider, so happy that Phlegm paid us a visit, love this so much, it was worth the brambles and everything. D7606, ready to use wheatpaste, my favourite shade. C3, these ladies are developing nicely,gorgeous.  Eug, got a strange taste in underwear, like the tattoos though. 🙂  Rialto and Earth, getting busy, which is a good thing I think.Brayk Graff  ‘The coldest flame in Sheffield’, know the feeling.J Davies Arts, eye popping letters.007, old piece ( the writer sadly died in 2000) uncovered by clearance of vegetation on railtracks, very well preserved.Mila K, looking good, as always, fun to find, as always… This Alex Ekins Raven wheatpaste is definitely one of my favourites. Stunning Lord of the Rings themed wall from Mace, Surge, Gzos and Shadyone Amp.Evo, Pawski and Shoe,very handsome portrait of a fellow in the middle there 😉Coloquix, seeing double and with the reflection almost double double!! Skint and Sico, way too cool for school. Class of 2015 by CoLor, I’m particularly fond of the little details on this.  Hungry Horace seemed to disappear altogether, but perhaps not,this doesn’t look new but it’s certainly not as old as his other stuff, the plot thickens….

I had thought I’d be out and about over the christmas period, but due to the seaonal weather and over indulgence I haven’t got very far at all, bring on the spring, or at least some dry weather!I do have a strange fondness for this place, it was one of my very first explores, it had more walls and roofs and even windows then! But I do think it’s on borrowed time now as it is slowly but surely falling down, I’ll be surprised if it lasts another year.Surge and Britney, did it again, reclaiming a favourite spot.Simple but effective, and slightly disturbing.Mr Hastes’ monkey seems to have escaped 🙂Corpse, surely one of the most photographed pieces in Sheffield over the last few days, love it!Stickers! Featuring C3, D7606, Greenz, SSSOVA, VoxRomana and others.Mila K,Acid Junkies, took this after it had snowed and the sun was shining, it was literally blinding.Not sure who did the piece on the left, but Dyson in the middle and Teml(?)I like this, a commissioned piece #colourbritain sponsored by Dulux.Coloquix has an exhibition on at the Forum, go see it if you can. I went to the opening night, cue another hangover! 😉The skatepark is going through a popular phase at the moment, practically changing every week. Riseone and Rast, I may have seen Riseone painting this, but it probably wasn’t him… This is an art space, a space for art, the shutter apparently however, is not….

Birmingham City of Colours

So me and my little dog (who had chronic wind by the way!) got on a train to Birmingham to see what all this City of Colours business was all about. I have to say that not having been to Brum on a graff mission before I was instantly pleasantly surprised and actually veered off the COC path for a couple hours looking at all there was to see, and there was a lot, I’ll cover that in a separate post.  This lovely lady by N4T4 was the first official COC piece that I saw.This wonderful board wall was not an ‘official’ part of COC but hey it’s not a bad thing that everyone wanted to be involved.Tizer and Gent 48 among others joined in the fun.The amazing work of Jimmy C, I’ve never seen it up close before, stunning.Dscreet, love all his work but my favourites are the owls.Spotted at the Custard Factory.Everywhere I turned there was a wall being painted.NHS crew.Corpse, the largest one I’ve seen.Loved this ladys’ work apologies for not knowing her name.Philth, on form as always.The Stencil Shed, not his real name, and I didn’t see a stencil either.Ennui, gutted I didn’t get to see this finished.More awesomeness.I’m sure he didn’t do all of this with a pen.Skema, paintaholic  🙂Enzime, really like this.Bill Giles and PM(?)Andy Council, sponsored by Mr Whippy 😉Steve Edwards beautiful study of Kingfishers playing leapfrog.Lost Souls epic production.SPZero76, not just a figment of my Instagram!Made You Look, yes it did.Lisk Bot, very fond of these handsome robots.Rmer1, blooming marvellous.Loved this…….and this…Si2, I’m sure he’d not arrived by the time I went home, but he must have been there somewhere.Delightfully different.CoLor, Eug, Corpse and Tekonta Secta fantastic collaboration.Privileged to see Hoakser in action.Title and Jim Vision, I’m running out of superlatives!Mila Ks’ luscious ladies guarding the entrance to the Custard Factory….

Congratulations to the organisers for a spectacular event. I’m sure I’ll be back, not sure about the dog though, had to sit in the bike racks on the train home…
